Judgments: Dr Kate Parlett represents Costa Rica in three ICJ cases

Dr Kate Parlett appeared on behalf of the Republic of Costa Rica in cases before the International Court of Justice concerning maritime delimitation, territorial sovereignty over coastal areas of Isla Portillos, and compensation for environmental damage.

On Friday 2 February, the International Court of Justice issued judgments in all three cases, awarding substantial parts of disputed maritime areas in the Caribbean Sea and Pacific Ocean to Costa Rica, affirming Costa Rican sovereignty over the beach of Isla Portillos, and issuing its first ever order for compensation for environmental damage.

The judgments are available on the International Court of Justice website.
