Singapore office opening January 2010

The members of 20 Essex Street are honoured to have been invited by the Singapore Ministry of Law to take part in the development of the country's new International Arbitration Centre at Maxwell Chambers. We believe this invitation reflects the high reputation and standing of members of Chambers, and presents an exciting opportunity for members to be closely involved in a project aimed at establishing the leading arbitration centre for Asia. The new centre was opened in January 2010

In support of the project, the members of 20 Essex Street have established offices in Maxwell Chambers, and practise as independent barristers and arbitrators in Singapore just as they do in London. There is a permanent presence of members of Chambers at Maxwell Chambers, with one member having relocated to Singapore, and others spending time there on rotation. There is also a permanent clerking presence.

Maxwell Chambers is billed as the world's first integrated dispute resolution complex, with international dispute resolution institutions and dispute resolution facilities housed under the same roof. Amongst other facilities, the centre boasts 14 custom designed and fully equipped hearing rooms. For further information about the Centre please see its website.

For further information about the Arbitration Centre, or for information about instructing a member of chambers, please contact the senior clerking team.
